The Georgia Supreme Court heard oral arguments Tuesday over whether buying someone else’s life insurance policy constitutes illegal human-life wagering.

Scott Zweigel of Parker, Hudson, Rainer & Dobbs in Atlanta argued for Sterling Crum, a secondary market investor who purchased a policy from a stranger named Kelly Couch, who had recently tested positive for HIV at a time when such a diagnosis was viewed as hopeless.
